Efficiency

I have been ranting about our Canadian Health system and I have an anecdote to show you just how efficient it is!
This is January 2011 and I got a call the other day saying my appointment had been changed from 2 pm to 10 am. and to make sure I brought my requisition with me signed by my doctor. Well I had just seen my doctor for the same problem I have been having with pain in my face and head, but there was no mention of a test or did I receive a requisition for any.
I decided to call my doctor to ask about this call and got the message machine telling me they only answered their phone on Thursdays .....This was Tuesday with the appointment scheduled for the next day. I then tried to call the lab to see what it was all about and to try and get a human was almost impossible I kept getting recordings and "press 1" or "Press 2" etc etc.....Took forever and I don't know how many call backs.
When I finally reached a human person and told her the problem, she said she had no one by my name listed for any test. Then proceeded to shuffle some papers and tap some keys on her computer (I could hear it on the phone) Then came back and said oh yes its for the cramps in your toes!! Remember I said this was January? I had that test the September before.......over 4 months earlier. How is that for efficency? She quickly said I'll cancel the appointment? Duh!!
Unbelievable! and you wonder why I rant about our health system.....and they still haven't found my problem yet while I spend hours in pain .Where oh where did all the healers go..............
